Hiatus

by @ 7:48 pm. Filed under In The Garden

Won’t be blogging or updating regularly until I can get some connection issues resolved. Sorry for the trouble, folks, and to those of you waiting for pictures… You’ll have to wait a bit longer, since 1) I don’t have most of them yet, and 2) I can’t get online often enough or long enough to upload and post them.

Working on it, though!

Grawr!

Apparently, unbeknownst to me, my site is showing up a little… Skewed… In IE. In Firefox it looks just as intended, and I’m not sure about Nutscrape yet. So, if you’re visiting here, and using IE, be advised - you’re missing out. Not on much, just a cute little graphic in the lefthand column. And things look all squinchy on that side, too. I’ll fix it when I have time to crawl through the css again.

Oh, and baptism pictures, some of them at least, will be posted tomorrow. Later today, rather. G’nite!

Eh, here’s one - I couldn’t help myself, isn’t she adorable?!

The Big Comfy Couch

by @ 11:52 am. Filed under In The Garden, The Rose, The Sprout

Keslyn just loves this show. I don’t understand it. Its not much different from every other kids’ show we’ve seen, but for some reason… She’s glued whenever it comes on. I don’t mind, since its tons better than most cartoons that kids her age usually enjoy. But, geez. Just glued to it. She hasn’t moved from in front of it since it came on (about 15 minutes ago). My little girl, who normally can’t sit still for 30 seconds at a time, is hypnotized by Loonette and Molly (a clown and her dolly) on The Big, Comfy Couch.

Err. Sorry. Theme song moment, there.

In other news: I just got my little approvaly notice for Google Ads. I’m kind of bothered by the fact that I’ve resorted to putting ads on my site - I thought when I bought my first domain name, that that would be the end of ads on my personal sites, and now here I am again, full circle. At least these ads are (supposed to be) targeted, relevant ads, and I can put them anywhere I want. I remember how happy I was when I first figured out how to cover up the silly ad banners on my geocities site… Man, I really thought I was getting away with something! Those were the days… Hah!

I knew just enough to think I was so supercool; such a fantastic web designer. Now, though, I know just enough to realize how much I have left to learn. Its a humbling process, validating your code. All these things that looked just fine every which way I previewed them - I run them through the validator and “19 errors” “22 errors” “This Site is not valid XHTML 1.0 Strict!” Eesh. But I’m getting there. Now, if I could just overcome my laziness and do my coding in notepad or something other than FrontPage… But I can’t help it. I like the intstant preview I get in FP. Not terribly fond of the extraneous code I keep having to delete, but these are minor sacrifices, yanno? Mainly I’m just proud of myself for being able to fix the errors in validation. The next step is remembering to code without them in the first place.

But, anyway - go click some ads. Do something that will make me money. You know you want to.

Baptism Celebration

by @ 11:35 pm. Filed under In The Garden, The Sprout

Well, Keslyn’s baptism was this afternoon. It went surprisingly well, considering.

There were 3 other children being baptized on the same day - a pair of twins, and another little girl who looked to be about a year old. Keslyn was adorable - I’ll post pictures later this week. She absolutely loved when the other babies were getting water poured on their heads; kept saying “More, more” when the Father was through… But when it came time for her? “No way!” And that’s a direct quote.

The Father was talking about how it symbolized her acceptance of Christ and all the usual, and when he was through talking, Keslyn shouted, “No way!” Loudly. The people in attendance loved it - everyone was laughing, and it will make for a great story later on. John, who was holding her, was completely embarassed, though. He was already a little nervous about it all, since he’s not Catholic - this was just the icing on the cake, so to speak.

After the baptism, we went to some friends’ house for a barbecue lunch/dinner party. Lots of people, lots of food, lots of fun. There was a nother little girl there, a couple years older than Keslyn, and they had a blast together. Someone popped in the karaoke CD and brought out the mics… As soon as Keslyn realized what they were for, she tried to monopolize one. We ended up turning the mic off, so other people could use the other to actually sing. Of course, she knew right away that something was wrong with hers when her own voice stopped echoing back at her.

She got a bunch of nice gifts from everyone - clothes, a couple children’s bibles, a picture frame, a rosary and two cross necklaces. I was so proud of her - she wore her St.’s medal all day without trying to yank it off once. She held on to it alot, which was nice - especially during the baptism. Other than that, she seemed to forget all about it. One of the crosses she got is on a very delicate chain - I’m a little leery of putting it on her yet. One good tug would snap that chain in pieces, and it would be such a shame, because it really is a beautiful chain. Of course, John likes to putter with jewelry and stuff, so I’m sure he could fix it even if it did get broken.

So, all in all, we had a very good - very long - day. Keslyn went without a nap today, which explains in part her grumpiness at the baptism; it was right in the middle of naptime. Then the rest of the afternoon was just too hectic for her to have napped even if she’d wanted to. We left the house at noon and got back at 9:30-ish, then between her bath and bedtime stories, she didn’t make it to bed until around 10:30. Hopefully this means she’ll sleep in a bit tomorrow and I can get the toys and everything cleaned up, since I’m not going to do it tonight.

Welcome to TresCay.com!

by @ 1:38 pm. Filed under In The Garden

I’ve finally gotten off my butt and done something with this site. After having had that “coming soon” notice up for so long, I bet you all thought I had given up on ever… Uhm… “coming soon”. Surprise!

I spent most of last night and part of this morning fiddling with the layout tweaking the colors and just generally being nit-picky; this is the result of my work. I especially like the little family scribble in the top left corner. Everyone go take note and be impressed. Seems I haven’t lost my artistic touch. :hah:

With our upcoming move to Michigan, it became more important for me to finish up this part of the domain. I want there to be a central hub where both sides of the family can come see what the heck is going on with the three of us. Sometime in the near future, I’m going to sort, optimize, and display all the pictures I have housed on my hard drive, so in addition to texty goodness you can all view the splendor that is: me! Oh, and Keslyn and John. Its a daunting task - at present I have over 500 pictures on my machine that I need to sort through and date and another 200 or so on the various camera chips… 4 discs, and various other pictures that I’ll need to scan into the computer some time soon. So there’s going to be lots of pictures. Eventually. I’m going to give this “page” thing a try - I’ve never used the page option in WP before, so bear with me, as I’ll almost certainly screw it up royally before I figure it out.
