Rules

I know that veteran TCG players tend to gloss over the rules when joining - please don't do that. If you read carefully, you may be pleasantly surprised!

01. The Who

You must have a valid, rational name and email address. By 'rational' I mean nothing that looks like you sneezed and went with whatever keys you happened to hit while your eyes were closed. Something normal, please. No funny stuff - using numbers in place of letters, mixing your capital and lower case letters - its just silly and hard on the eyes. Please check the members list to see if your name has been taken before you apply. If it has, please choose another name, or I will need to add a number to the end of it.

02. The Where

You need a Trading Post. This must be written in English, and it must contain the following:

You may also wish to display items you might donate here, prizes that you might win, gifts, contest entries - these are all acceptable, but not required.

** A 'detailed' trade log has the following information:

The trade log is very important - it is your verification and proof against cheating. A non-current trade log is acceptable excuse for removal from the TCG. As proof that you've read and understood this part, please put "The devil is in the details." in the comments section of the join form - you may get something special. Update! I know, its a no-brainer. If you haven't updated in one (1) month, you will be moved to the 'inactive' portion of the members' list, after which you will have one (1) month to update your trading post or contact me regarding your status in the TCG - if you have done neither of those things within the alloted time, you will be removed from the TCG. If you want to leave, please have the courtesy to use the 'quit' form - I'm not an ogre, I won't stalk you for life if you decide that this TCG isn't for you. I'd just like to know you've left. :o)

03. A When

Please have your starter pack on your trading post within one (1) week of receipt. Reply to your welcome email once your cards are up to be moved from pending to active status.

You may not begin to earn cards from games, updates and activities until after you have received and posted your starter pack.

After you receive your starter pack, you may take site update freebies until the comments section of that particular freebie is closed. This applies to both general updates and sidebar freebies.

04. Another When

You may begin taking sidebar & update freebies after you have been moved to active status within the TCG. Once active, you may take freebies from any update that still has comments open - even if it was posted before you joined. I close the comments on outdated entries, so you will generally be able to go back only 2 or 3 updates.

05. One Why

Don't direct link. Why? Because its not good karma.

06. How

When you participate in a trade, it is just that. You must send the card you are trading - and the person you're trading with must send you theirs. Please don't send members on a mission to track down the card you traded them. Email it to them when the trade has been negotiated satisfactorily, and then take that card off of your trading post.

07. The Golden Rule

Be kind to your fellow traders. We're all here to have fun. If someone does not want to trade with you, accept it graciously. To further the enjoyment of the game, please state clearly on your trading post where you may be reached for trade, and how long your pending trades will wait. Most people find a week to be ample time, but this is up to your discretion. If someone does not answer a trade request you've made - it happens - please don't be rude and flame them back. Remember that everyone here has a life outside of Bibliophile, and cannot always find time to reply. Or perhaps your email got fried up with the Spam that most of us are served daily in our inbox. :o) Type "I love spam." in the comments area of the join form for an extra goodie.
